Top design talent reinvents vintage style

Whatever her inspiration, Sharon Bowen interprets the great classics to produce a distinctly modern and highly original look. See her newest collection at Harrogate this month

Says Sharon: “I’ll be showing my two labels at Harrogate this March, Beverley Hills and English Romantics. The first is a collection of red carpet gowns, very floaty but with substantial internal boning, ideal for destination weddings and civil ceremonies. This season sees an introduction of colour and more glamerous sequin work to the collection, with soft nudes and café au lait shades complementing the 1930s vintage feel of the collection. It’s hard to believe that English Romantics is celebrating its 10th year and at Harrogate will include feminine styles and silhouettes ranging from 1950s-inspired gowns to simple floaty Boho chic, with beaded lace and floral detailing coupled with beautiful Swarovski crystal stonework.”

Sharon’s tips for 2010/2011 sucess include shaded gowns, sixties styling, and lean silhouettes. She also sees
shorter dress becoming more popular, and with them short, girlie veils and 40s-style face veils.

Sharon Bowen Couture has enjoyed its best year yet and has an ambituous launch programme underway for 2010. The company has now brought its sales and marketing effort in house, under Rosie Panesar, who can be reached at rosie@sharonbowencouture.com or on +44 (0)7595 392265.

See the collection at BBEH, on stand B39. Wholesale prices range from £425 to £1,125.
