Menswear at BBEH
At Harrogate, slick, understated formalwear rubs shoulders with edgy on-trend style-setters and the traditional classics that never go out of fashion. The menswear scene includes the big names with their seasonal interpretations catering to both sale and hire specialist retailers

Those who doubted the success of the resurgence of mens’ classical formalwear will be delighted that the bookies weren’t offering odds. Talk to any of the top manufacturers and they’ll tell you that traditionrules - and the more traditional the better. So, tails of the unexpected are proving to be the winner, pipping all else at the style post.
It is the fabrics and colours that are introducing the contemporary twist. Navy, as predicted, is top choice for the well dressed and lightweight mohairs are fast becoming a favourite. Black and grey will always be key to traditional looks but even these, in today’s cloths, have a certain modernity that is really appealing.
In smart suitings, the story repeats itself - classic looks spell quality, and quality, to the fashion cognoscenti, spells style… and luxury.Lounge jackets with two-button fastenings and side vents have a certain sleekness; single-breasted one-button versions with a deep centre back vent and slanted pockets breathe a studied elegance that is also relaxed. You watch, these are the shapes of things to come. Yes, Prince Edwards have moved to the second league, and about time, too, many will say.
Just make sure you have all those key accessories on display and a choice available. Waistcoats introduce colour and the selection now, in terms of prints and weaves, shades and styles, is astounding, as is the variety of neckwear that mixes and matches to tell a story. Don’t forget jewellery - good cufflinks are a must - belts and socks. You want to sell the whole look, not provide a part of it and send your customer elsewhere for the finishing touches. And shiny shoes are de rigeur.
